The Pediatric Lupus Nephritis Mycophenolate Mofetil (PLUMM) Study

Patient Handout

https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05538208

A research study to compare two ways to dose mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) to treat lupus nephritis either with:

  • Current approach: dosed by patient’s height and weight

  • New personalized approach: dosed by patient’s drug metabolism

Why?

To determine how safe and effective either MMF dosing type is in improving lupus nephritis in children and teens

Who?

Patients ages 8 to 20 years old with active lupus nephritis as per recent kidney biopsy will be randomly assigned to either MMF dosing type (current/height-weight or new/personalized)

When?

Eight study visits over the course of one year that can be done at the same time as your doctor’s appointments or infusions

What?

  • Routine blood and urine with first morning void samples

  • Blood samples to measure MMF levels in the blood

  • Surveys about your health and well-being
